How to publish your course on Teachable
Quick Answer
To publish your course on Teachable, navigate to your course dashboard, complete all required sections including curriculum and pricing, then click the Publish button. Your course will go live immediately and be available for student enrollment.
Prerequisites
- A Teachable account with at least one course created
- Course content uploaded (videos, PDFs, or other materials)
- Course pricing and curriculum structure finalized
- Course landing page details completed
1
Access your course dashboard
Log into your Teachable account and navigate to Courses from the main menu. Select the course you want to publish by clicking on its title. You'll be taken to the course overview page where you can see the publication status.
Tip
Make sure you're viewing the correct course if you have multiple courses in development.
2
Complete the course curriculum
Click on Curriculum in the left sidebar. Ensure all sections and lectures have content uploaded. Each lecture should have a title, description, and associated content (video, PDF, or text). Click Save after making any changes. Teachable requires at least one lecture to publish a course.
Tip
Use the preview feature to test how your content appears to students before publishing.
3
Set up course pricing
Navigate to Pricing in the left sidebar. Choose between Free, Paid, or Subscription pricing models. If selecting paid, enter your course price in the designated field. Configure any payment plans or coupons if needed, then click Save Changes.
Tip
Consider offering early bird pricing or payment plans to increase enrollment.
4
Configure course settings
Go to Settings and review all options including course language, difficulty level, and student access settings. Set the Course Status to Published when ready. Configure enrollment settings such as whether the course has unlimited enrollment or a cap.
Tip
Double-check your time zone settings to ensure course launches at the intended time.
5
Design your sales page
Click on Sales Page to customize how your course appears to potential students. Add a compelling course description, upload a course image or video preview, and include instructor bio information. Fill out the Course Benefits and What You'll Learn sections to attract students.
Tip
High-quality cover images and preview videos significantly improve conversion rates.
6
Review and publish
Return to the course overview page and look for the Publish Course button at the top right. Teachable will show you a checklist of required items. Once all items are complete (indicated by green checkmarks), click Publish Course to make it live.
Tip
Take a screenshot of your course before publishing as a backup reference.
7
Test the published course
After publishing, click View Course to see how it appears to students. Test the enrollment process by creating a test purchase (you can refund this later). Verify that all content loads properly and payment processing works correctly.
Tip
Ask a friend or colleague to test enroll in your course to get feedback on the user experience.
Troubleshooting
Publish button is greyed out or unavailable
Check that you've completed all required sections: curriculum with at least one lecture, pricing setup, and course details. Look for red X marks next to incomplete sections in your course overview.
Course content not displaying after publishing
Ensure all media files are fully uploaded and processed. Large video files may take time to encode. Check your internet connection and try refreshing the page. Contact Teachable support if videos remain stuck in processing.
Payment integration not working
Verify your payment gateway settings in Settings > Payments. Ensure your Stripe or PayPal account is properly connected and verified. Test with a small amount first to confirm the integration works.
Students can't access course after enrollment
Check your course access settings in Settings > Access. Ensure the course is set to Published and not Draft mode. Verify that enrolled students appear in your Students section and their payment status is complete.
