How to export your final video on Screen Studio
Quick Answer
To export your final video in Screen Studio, click the Export button in the top toolbar, select your desired format and quality settings, then click Export to save your video. The export process will begin and you'll receive a notification when complete.
Prerequisites
- Completed screen recording in Screen Studio
- Finished editing your video project
- Sufficient storage space on your device
- Screen Studio application installed and updated
1
Review your final video
Before exporting, play through your entire video using the spacebar or Play button to ensure all edits, transitions, and effects are correct. Check for any unwanted segments, audio issues, or visual glitches that need fixing.
Tip
Use the timeline scrubber to quickly jump to different sections of your video for review.
2
Click the Export button
In the top toolbar of Screen Studio, locate and click the Export button. This will open the export settings panel where you can configure your video output preferences.
Tip
You can also use the keyboard shortcut Cmd+E (Mac) or Ctrl+E (Windows) to open export settings.
3
Choose your export format
In the export panel, select your desired video format from the Format dropdown. Screen Studio typically offers MP4 (recommended for most uses), MOV (for high quality), and GIF (for short clips). MP4 provides the best balance of quality and file size.
Tip
MP4 format is compatible with most platforms and devices, making it the safest choice for sharing.
4
Set quality and resolution
Choose your video quality from the Quality dropdown options: High, Medium, or Low. Select the Resolution that matches your needs - typically 1080p for standard quality or 4K for high-definition output.
Tip
Higher quality settings result in larger file sizes and longer export times.
5
Configure frame rate and compression
Set your Frame Rate (usually 30fps or 60fps) and adjust Compression settings if needed. For screen recordings, 30fps is typically sufficient unless you recorded gameplay or fast motion content that benefits from 60fps.
Tip
30fps provides smooth playback for most screen recordings while keeping file sizes manageable.
6
Select export destination
Click Choose Location to select where you want to save your exported video. Navigate to your desired folder, give your video a descriptive filename, and click Save to confirm the location.
Tip
Create a dedicated folder for your exported videos to keep them organized.
7
Start the export process
Once all settings are configured, click the Export button at the bottom of the export panel. Screen Studio will begin processing your video, and you'll see a progress bar showing the export status.
Tip
Avoid using your computer for intensive tasks during export to ensure optimal performance.
8
Complete and locate your video
Wait for the export to complete - you'll see a notification when finished. Click Show in Finder (Mac) or Show in Explorer (Windows) to locate your exported video file, or find it in the destination folder you selected.
Tip
Test your exported video in a media player to ensure it exported correctly before sharing or uploading.
Troubleshooting
Export fails or stops unexpectedly
Check available storage space on your device. Ensure you have at least 2-3x the size of your project in free space. Try restarting Screen Studio and attempting the export again with lower quality settings.
Exported video has poor quality or pixelated
Increase the Quality setting to High and ensure your Resolution matches or exceeds your original recording resolution. Avoid excessive compression settings.
Export takes extremely long time
Lower the quality settings, reduce resolution, or close other applications to free up system resources. Consider exporting during off-peak computer usage times.
Audio and video out of sync in exported file
Check that your original recording doesn't have sync issues. Try exporting with different format settings (MP4 instead of MOV). Restart Screen Studio and re-export if the problem persists.
