How to format text with shortcuts on Daino Notes
Quick Answer
Daino Notes supports common text formatting shortcuts like Ctrl+B for bold and Ctrl+I for italics. You can apply formatting to selected text or use shortcuts while typing to toggle formatting modes.
Prerequisites
- Daino Notes app installed
- Basic familiarity with keyboard shortcuts
- Active note document open
1
Select text for formatting
Highlight the text you want to format by clicking and dragging across it. You can also double-click to select entire words or triple-click to select paragraphs. The selected text will appear highlighted in blue.
Tip
Hold Shift and use arrow keys for precise text selection
2
Apply bold formatting
With text selected, press
Ctrl+B (Windows) or Cmd+B (Mac) to make the text bold. You'll see the text weight change immediately. You can also click the Bold button in the formatting toolbar.Tip
Press the same shortcut again to remove bold formatting
3
Use italic formatting
Press
Ctrl+I (Windows) or Cmd+I (Mac) to italicize selected text. The text will appear slanted. Alternatively, use the Italic button in the toolbar above your note.4
Add underline formatting
Apply underlines using
Ctrl+U (Windows) or Cmd+U (Mac). A line will appear beneath your selected text. This formatting works well for emphasizing important points or creating headers.Tip
Combine underline with bold for stronger emphasis
5
Create strikethrough text
Use
Ctrl+Shift+S (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+S (Mac) to add strikethrough formatting. This draws a line through the middle of your text, useful for showing completed tasks or deleted content.6
Format text while typing
Press any formatting shortcut before typing to enable that format mode. For example, press
Ctrl+B, then type your text to create bold content. Press the shortcut again to return to normal formatting.Tip
The cursor will show a preview of active formatting modes
7
Clear all formatting
Select formatted text and press
Ctrl+Shift+Z (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Z (Mac) to remove all formatting and return text to plain style. You can also use Format > Clear Formatting from the menu.Tip
This shortcut preserves the text content while removing all styling
8
Combine multiple formats
Apply multiple formatting shortcuts to the same text for combined effects. For example, use
Ctrl+B then Ctrl+I to create bold italic text. Most formatting combinations work together seamlessly in Daino Notes.Tip
Use Ctrl+A to select all text before applying document-wide formatting
Troubleshooting
Keyboard shortcuts not working
Check if Caps Lock is enabled or if another application is intercepting the shortcuts. Try restarting Daino Notes or switching to the formatting toolbar buttons.
Formatting applies to entire document instead of selection
Make sure text is properly selected before applying shortcuts. Click away from any selection and try selecting the specific text again before using formatting commands.
Cannot remove formatting from text
Select the formatted text and use
Ctrl+Shift+Z to clear all formatting. If this doesn't work, try copying the text content and pasting it as plain text using Ctrl+Shift+V.Formatting shortcuts conflict with system shortcuts
Check your operating system's keyboard shortcut settings and disable conflicting shortcuts. You can also access formatting options through the Format menu or toolbar buttons as alternatives.
