How to export notes and databases on Daino Notes

Quick Answer

Export your Daino Notes data by accessing the Settings menu, selecting Export options, and choosing your preferred format (JSON, CSV, or PDF). You can export individual notes, entire databases, or your complete workspace with just a few clicks.

Prerequisites

  1. Active Daino Notes account
  2. Notes and databases created in your workspace
  3. Sufficient storage space on your device
  4. Basic understanding of file formats
1

Access the Export Settings

Open Daino Notes and click on your profile picture in the top-right corner. From the dropdown menu, select Settings. In the settings panel, navigate to the Data Management section and click on Export Data.
Tip
You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+E (Cmd+Shift+E on Mac) to quickly access export options.
2

Choose Export Scope

Select what you want to export:
  • Individual Note - Export a single note
  • Database - Export an entire database with all entries
  • Workspace - Export everything in your current workspace
  • Custom Selection - Choose specific notes and databases
Click on your preferred option to proceed.
Tip
For large workspaces, consider using Custom Selection to avoid overwhelming file sizes.
3

Select Export Format

Choose your desired export format from the available options:
  • JSON - Preserves all formatting and metadata
  • CSV - Best for database entries and spreadsheet import
  • PDF - Ready-to-share document format
  • Markdown - Plain text with formatting markup
Select the format that best suits your intended use case.
Tip
JSON format maintains the highest fidelity and allows for easy re-import into Daino Notes.
4

Configure Export Options

Customize your export settings:
  • Check Include attachments to export images and files
  • Enable Include metadata to preserve creation dates and tags
  • Toggle Compress output for smaller file sizes
  • Select Date range if you want to filter by creation or modification dates
Tip
Including attachments significantly increases export file size, so consider your storage limitations.
5

Review Export Preview

Daino Notes will display a preview showing:
  • Number of notes to be exported
  • Total file size estimate
  • Export format confirmation
  • List of included databases
Review this information carefully and click Continue if everything looks correct, or Back to make changes.
6

Start the Export Process

Click the Start Export button to begin the process. A progress bar will show the export status. For large exports, you'll see:
  • Current item being processed
  • Percentage completed
  • Estimated time remaining
  • Cancel option if needed
Tip
Don't close your browser or navigate away during the export process to avoid corruption.
7

Download Your Exported Data

Once the export completes, click Download to save the file to your device. The file will be named with the format daino-export-YYYY-MM-DD.zip. You'll also receive an email notification with a download link that remains valid for 7 days.
Tip
Save the file to a memorable location and consider creating a backup copy for important data.

Troubleshooting

Export process fails or gets stuck
Clear your browser cache, refresh the page, and try exporting smaller batches. If the problem persists, try using Custom Selection to export data in smaller chunks.
Downloaded file appears corrupted or won't open
Re-download the file using the email link. Ensure you have sufficient disk space and that your antivirus software isn't interfering. Try downloading in an incognito/private browser window.
Export doesn't include all expected notes
Check that you selected the correct scope and date range. Verify that missing notes aren't in archived status or different workspaces. Use Workspace export to ensure all data is included.
Export file size is larger than expected
Disable Include attachments if you don't need media files. Enable Compress output to reduce file size. Consider exporting databases separately rather than using full workspace export.
