How to create your first database on Daino Notes
Quick Answer
Creating your first database in Daino Notes involves navigating to the workspace dashboard, clicking the database creation button, and configuring your database structure. The process takes just a few minutes and includes setting up tables, fields, and basic permissions.
Prerequisites
- Active Daino Notes account
- Basic understanding of databases
- Web browser with stable internet connection
- Completed workspace setup
1
Access your workspace dashboard
Log into your Daino Notes account and navigate to your main workspace. Click on the Workspace tab in the left sidebar to access your dashboard where all your databases will be displayed.
Tip
If this is your first time, the workspace will be empty - this is completely normal.
2
Start database creation
Click the + Create Database button located in the top-right corner of your workspace. This will open the database creation wizard with various templates and options.
Tip
You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+D (or Cmd+Shift+D on Mac) to quickly start creating a database.
3
Choose a database template
Select from the available templates or choose Blank Database for a fresh start. Popular templates include Project Tracker, Contact List, or Inventory Manager. Click Select Template to proceed.
Tip
Templates can save significant setup time and provide best-practice field structures for common use cases.
4
Configure database settings
Enter your database name in the Database Name field. Add an optional description in the Description box. Choose your database icon from the icon picker and select a color scheme from the Color Theme dropdown.
5
Set up your first table
In the table configuration section, name your first table (default is 'Items'). Add fields by clicking + Add Field. Choose field types such as Text, Number, Date, or Select. Configure each field's properties including required status and default values.
Tip
Start with essential fields only - you can always add more fields later as your needs evolve.
6
Configure permissions and sharing
In the Permissions section, set who can view and edit your database. Choose between Private (only you), Team (workspace members), or Custom permissions. Click Advanced Settings to configure specific user roles if needed.
Tip
Start with Private permissions and expand access as needed to maintain data security.
7
Review and create database
Review all your settings in the summary panel on the right side. Verify the database name, template choice, fields, and permissions are correct. Click the Create Database button to finalize creation.
8
Add your first records
Once created, you'll be redirected to your new database. Click + Add Record to create your first entry. Fill in the field values and click Save. Your database is now ready for use with sorting, filtering, and view customization options available.
Tip
Try adding 2-3 sample records to test your field structure before inviting team members or adding large amounts of data.
Troubleshooting
Database creation button is grayed out
Check your account permissions and ensure you haven't reached your plan's database limit. Upgrade your plan or contact your workspace administrator for access.
Template preview won't load
Clear your browser cache and refresh the page. If the issue persists, try using an incognito/private browsing window or switch to a different browser.
Field configuration options are missing
Ensure you've selected a field type first before configuring properties. Some field types have limited configuration options - try switching to a Text or Number field for full options.
Database creation fails with error message
Verify your database name doesn't contain special characters and is under 50 characters. Check your internet connection and try again. If the error persists, contact Daino Notes support with the error code.
