How to invite team members on ClickUp

Access Workspace Settings

Click on your workspace name in the top-left corner of your ClickUp interface. From the dropdown menu, select Settings to open your workspace configuration panel.

Navigate to Members Section

In the left sidebar of the Settings panel, click on Members. This will display your current team members and provide options to manage user access and invitations.

Click Invite Members

Look for the Invite Members button, typically located in the top-right area of the Members page. Click this button to open the invitation dialog box.
Tip
The invite button may also appear as a '+' icon or 'Add Members' depending on your ClickUp plan.

Enter Email Addresses

In the invitation dialog, enter the email addresses of team members you want to invite. You can add multiple emails by:
  • Typing each email and pressing Enter
  • Separating multiple emails with commas
  • Pasting a list of emails from your clipboard

Double-check email addresses for typos to ensure invitations reach the intended recipients.

Set Permission Levels

Choose the appropriate permission level for each invitee from the dropdown menu:
  • Admin - Full workspace control
  • Member - Standard access with create/edit permissions
  • Guest - Limited access to specific spaces only

Start with Member permissions and adjust later if needed. You can always modify permissions after team members join.

Assign to Spaces (Optional)

If you want to add invitees to specific spaces immediately, check the boxes next to the relevant Space names in the invitation dialog. This step is optional and can be done later after they accept the invitation.

Add Personal Message

In the Message field, add a personalized welcome message explaining the purpose of the workspace and any important getting-started information. This message will be included in the invitation email.
Tip
Include your name and a brief explanation of the project or team they're joining to make the invitation more welcoming.

Send Invitations

Review all details and click Send Invites to dispatch invitation emails. The invited members will receive an email with instructions to join your ClickUp workspace and will appear in your Members list with a Pending status until they accept.
Tip
Follow up with team members if they don't accept within 24-48 hours, as invitation emails sometimes end up in spam folders.

Troubleshooting

Invitation emails not being received
Check that email addresses are correct and ask recipients to check their spam/junk folders. You can also resend invitations from the Members page by clicking the Resend option next to pending invitations.
Unable to see Invite Members button
Verify that you have Admin or Member permissions in the workspace. Guest users cannot invite new members. Contact your workspace admin if you need permission to invite team members.
Team member can't accept invitation
Ensure the team member is using the exact email address the invitation was sent to. They may need to create a new ClickUp account if they don't have one, or log out of their current account and accept the invitation with the correct email.
Invited member appears as pending indefinitely
The invitation may have expired (invitations are valid for 30 days). Go to the Members section, find the pending invitation, and click Resend or Delete and create a new invitation.
