How to configure notification settings on ClickUp
Quick Answer
Configure ClickUp notification settings by accessing your profile menu, navigating to Settings, and customizing notification preferences for email, desktop, and mobile alerts. You can control notifications for tasks, comments, mentions, and workspace activities.
Prerequisites
- Active ClickUp account
- Access to workspace settings
- Basic understanding of ClickUp interface
- Admin or member permissions
1
Access your profile settings
Click on your profile avatar in the top-right corner of the ClickUp interface. From the dropdown menu, select Settings to open your personal settings dashboard.
Tip
You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+, (Windows) or Cmd+, (Mac) to quickly access settings.
2
Navigate to notification settings
In the left sidebar of the Settings page, click on Notifications. This will display all available notification configuration options including email, desktop, and mobile notifications.
3
Configure email notifications
Under the Email Notifications section, toggle the switches for different notification types:
- Task assignments - Get notified when tasks are assigned to you
- Comments and mentions - Receive alerts for @mentions and task comments
- Due date reminders - Set reminders for upcoming deadlines
- Daily digest - Receive summary emails of your workspace activity
Tip
Enable only essential email notifications to avoid inbox clutter while staying informed about critical updates.
4
Set up desktop notifications
In the Desktop Notifications section, configure browser-based alerts. Click Enable Desktop Notifications if prompted by your browser. Toggle specific notification types like New comments, Task updates, and Mentions according to your preferences.
Tip
Desktop notifications work best when ClickUp is open in your browser and can help you stay updated in real-time.
5
Customize mobile push notifications
Under Mobile Push Notifications, configure alerts for the ClickUp mobile app. Enable or disable notifications for Task assignments, Comments, Due dates, and Workspace updates. Set quiet hours by toggling Do Not Disturb and selecting your preferred time range.
Tip
Set quiet hours to prevent notifications during your off-work hours or sleep time.
6
Configure workspace-specific settings
Scroll down to Workspace Notifications to customize alerts for each workspace you're a member of. Click on individual workspaces to set different notification levels: All activity, Only mentions and assignments, or Off.
Tip
Use different notification levels for different workspaces based on your involvement and priority.
7
Set notification frequency and batching
In the Notification Frequency section, choose how often you receive notifications:
- Instantly - Immediate notifications
- Every 15 minutes - Batched notifications
- Hourly - Hourly digest
- Daily - Daily summary
Tip
Batching notifications can reduce interruptions while ensuring you don't miss important updates.
8
Test and fine-tune your settings
After saving your preferences, test the notifications by having a colleague mention you in a comment or assign you a task. Monitor your notification flow for a few days and return to Settings > Notifications to make adjustments as needed.
Tip
Regularly review and update your notification settings as your workflow and responsibilities change.
Troubleshooting
Not receiving email notifications
Check your spam folder and add noreply@clickup.com to your email whitelist. Verify your email address is correct in Settings > Account and ensure email notifications are enabled for specific categories.
Desktop notifications not appearing
Ensure your browser allows notifications from ClickUp by checking browser permissions in Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings. Clear your browser cache and refresh ClickUp if notifications still don't appear.
Mobile push notifications not working
Check that push notifications are enabled in your device's Settings > Notifications > ClickUp. Ensure the ClickUp mobile app is updated to the latest version and that you're logged into the same account.
Receiving too many notifications
Reduce notification frequency by selecting Hourly or Daily in notification settings. Disable non-essential categories like Daily digest and limit workspace notifications to Only mentions and assignments.
