How to upload documents to Claude on Claude

Troubleshooting
File upload fails or shows an error
Check that your file is in a supported format and under the size limit. Try refreshing the page and uploading again, or convert your file to a different supported format like PDF.
Document appears uploaded but Claude can't read it
Ensure your document isn't password protected or corrupted. For scanned PDFs, make sure they have searchable text rather than just images. Try re-saving or converting the document.
Attachment button is missing or grayed out
Refresh the page or try using a different browser. Some browser extensions or ad blockers may interfere with the upload functionality. Clear your browser cache and cookies for claude.ai.
Upload is very slow or times out
Check your internet connection and try uploading smaller files first. Large documents may need to be split into smaller sections or compressed before uploading.
