How to upload and add images on Canva
Quick Answer
To upload images on Canva, click the Uploads tab in the left sidebar, then click Upload files and select your images. Once uploaded, simply drag and drop the images onto your canvas or click to add them to your design.

Access the Uploads section
Open your Canva design and locate the left sidebar. Click on the Uploads tab (represented by an upload arrow icon) to access your personal media library.
Tip
You can also use the keyboard shortcut Alt+U (Windows) or Option+U (Mac) to quickly access uploads.

Upload your images
Click the Upload files button at the top of the uploads panel. Select Upload from device to browse your computer files, or choose Upload from cloud to connect Google Drive, Dropbox, or other cloud services. Select one or multiple image files and click Open.
Tip
You can upload up to 25 files at once by holding Ctrl (Windows) or Cmd (Mac) while selecting multiple files.

Wait for upload completion
Your images will appear in the uploads section with a progress bar. Wait for all files to finish uploading completely before proceeding. Successfully uploaded images will display as thumbnails in your Uploads folder.
Tip
Larger files may take longer to upload. Canva supports files up to 25MB for free users and 100MB for Pro users.

Add images to your design
Once uploaded, click on any image thumbnail to instantly add it to your canvas. Alternatively, drag and drop the image from the uploads panel directly onto your design where you want it positioned.

Resize and position your image
Click on the added image to select it. Use the corner handles to resize proportionally, or drag the image to reposition it on your canvas. The Position panel will appear in the toolbar for precise placement options.
Tip
Hold Shift while dragging corner handles to maintain the original aspect ratio.

Apply image adjustments
With your image selected, click Edit image in the top toolbar to access filters, brightness, contrast, and saturation controls. You can also click Crop to trim your image or Effects to apply creative filters.
Tip
Use the transparency slider in the edit panel to create overlay effects with your images.

Organize uploaded images
Right-click on any uploaded image to access options like Rename, Move to folder, or Delete. Create folders by clicking Create folder in the uploads section to keep your media organized.
Tip
Create folders with descriptive names like 'Logos', 'Photos', or 'Icons' to easily find images in future projects.
Troubleshooting
Image upload fails or gets stuck
Check your internet connection and ensure the file size is under the limit (25MB for free users, 100MB for Pro). Try refreshing the page and uploading again. Clear your browser cache if the problem persists.
Uploaded image appears blurry or pixelated
Upload higher resolution images (at least 300 DPI for print designs). Avoid enlarging small images beyond their original size. Consider using SVG format for logos and graphics that need to scale.
Cannot find uploaded images
Check if you're logged into the correct Canva account. Use the search bar in the uploads section to find specific files. Images may be in a folder - click All uploads to view everything.
Image won't drag and drop onto canvas
Ensure the image has fully uploaded (no progress bar visible). Try clicking the image instead of dragging. If the issue persists, refresh the page and try again.
